  1. Have a Costume Contest. At the beginning of every October, we announce our annual Employee Costume Contest. We encourage every teacher and staff member to dress up (non-scary) on a particular day, usually on Halloween or the Friday before. On the morning of the contest, we take pictures of everyone who participates and display the photos on a poster board in the foyer. We assign each picture a number and write the costume name. We place slips of paper, a pen, and a large container on the front counter where parents can vote for their favorite costume. Each staff member can also have one vote. At the end of the day, we count all ballots. The person with the most votes wins a day off with pay! Another option is to post the pictures on your company's Facebook page and have everyone vote online. I prefer the in-person way :) Download our costume contest flyer template here.

  2. Make it a party. We provide pizza and have a party sign-up sheet for staff to volunteer to bring chips, desserts, fruit, etc. While the children are asleep during nap time, we let everyone take turns coming out of their rooms, getting food, and chatting for a minute. An at-work party is great for morale-boosting and staff bonding.

  3. Give out goodie bags. Yes, I know that treat bags are usually for kids, but adults like them too! Surprise your staff with a goodie bag of fresh-baked cookies, mini lotions, or a candle. The options are endless. Use these printable Halloween gift tags to make your gifts extra cute!

Consistently planning fun things and giving little appreciation gifts will keep your staff happy, strengthen relationships, and boost morale. What are some fun things you do for your team?
